COLORS
I chose red because it's my favourite colour and it represents a high level of excitement. I chose the name red zone to imply a zone with exciting things happening. I chose a black background as it gave a stylish, mature feel and was good for feeling empty space. I chose to have a grey text field as it was a monochrome of black so it was creating a subtle contrast from the black background. For the text I chose a very light grey to make it stand out the most for visibility and legibility on a dark color-themed site. So I had a color movement from a dark background all the way to lighter texts. This was good for the cool, mature, modern style I was aiming for.

I chose to work with dark-coloured graphics to complement the color theme of the site. I wanted the images to reflect the style of the site, being trendy and mature. For the logo, I modelled it after that of www.rocnation.com as they had the same colors. I initially was struggling on the final design but referencing theirs gave me a clearer idea for mine.
I chose bold, san-serif fonts for my headers as san-serif do well when used bold. For the body texts, I chose serif fonts as they have a better visibility when small and they are easier to read. They also make the reading flow a lot smooother. I would have loved to use some other serif font but this was the best I could get out of HOTGLUE's limited selection.
